The Joyful Noise Brigade puppet team from Rolling Hills Community Church and Sports Outreach Institute partner together to bring the joy of God's salvation and hope for today to children in Uganda and Kenya. "Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all you lands! . . . For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations." Ps 100:1,5

This just came from Aloysius who is on staff with Sports Outreach. We will be VERY busy when we head up to northern Uganda. This is an area, that only in the last year or so has become safe to travel to because of the rebels. As you will see, there will be great opportunities to share God's love and hope.

Gotta get used to all the packing and re-packing. The team is off to the Oregon State Correctional Institution to perform for Family First. This is a unique group in the medium security prison where these men are learning what it takes to be a good dad. On this evening, the men were allowed to invite their children in to join them. What a privilege to be part of a memory building legacy with these guys!

Another fundraising idea was brought to us by Chris Reynolds (at the far right). Chris owns Wally's Ribs and offered to let us sell those "finger lickin' good" ribs and sauces and donated over 40% back to the mission! Them be a whole lot of ribs cooked up for us! THANK YOU CHRIS! The other picture shows some of the team members selling ribs at Rolling Hills.

It takes a lot of teamwork for a mission like this even before we get to Africa. Each person going needs to raise a substantial amount of money. One way was to wash trucks at JB Insulation each month - rain or shine, cold or hot (Well, it never really got hot!). Jim Boryska, fundraiser extrodinaire, suggested the idea (he's at the right end in one of these pictures) and Chuck Dalby (second from the right in another) was gracious enough to help us with the equipment each time. Chuck - you rock!! Jim is also going with us on the trip and we have been so grateful for his support. Jenae is bundled up for one of the washings during the long winter months!

We are getting ready for the mission trip of our lives. Two years in the planning and we are heading towards the finish line. Our departure date is June 17, 2006. Most of the team is here with puppets we made with David Pannabecker. They are dressed and ready for their ministry debut at an Oregon State Penitentiary. All told, we will be bringing over 50 puppets, stage and sound system as part of the training we will be doing with staff members of Sports Outreach Institute. The plan is to train leaders in using puppets and to minister to children in orphanages, schools, detention centers and refugee centers in Uganda and Kenya.
